Pop Art Cartoon Square Plate

A postcard from everywhere at once. Across a ground of sky blue cut by bold red and white diagonals, a cartoon mouse in red shorts and bright yellow shoes leaps through the middle of the plate, fist raised, mid-laugh. Around him the glass reads like a travel diary: Paris, London, Venice and New York, and between them the words Positive, Simple, Happy, Epic, Love, Wow and Fantasy. A pink ribbon loops into a heart, a yellow sun bursts in one corner, a smiling flower sits at the bottom, and a soup can tips its hat to the pop art of the sixties.

Every colour is its own piece of glass. Made with the glass fusion technique: sheets of coloured Murano glass are cut by hand, composed piece by piece and fused in the kiln, where the plate also takes its gentle curve. The outlines and lettering are drawn by hand on the surface, which is why no stroke falls in quite the same place twice.

Original Murano glass, made entirely by hand in Italy by master glassmakers: no two plates are ever the same. Display it as a centrepiece, on a stand or on the wall. In daylight the blues turn cool and the reds and yellows come forward, so the plate never looks quite the same twice.
