Description
The most famous face in the world, taken apart and put back together in colour. Leonardo's Mona Lisa, the Gioconda, is rebuilt here from shards of glass: her skin in cobalt, turquoise and pale blue, a line of yellow down the nose, lips in red. The hair falls in long bands of crimson, magenta and pink, and behind her the quiet Tuscan landscape becomes a mosaic of greens, blues and gold. Step back and the calm gaze and the half-smile are unmistakable. Step closer and the portrait dissolves into hundreds of separate pieces.
Every colour is its own piece of glass. Made with the glass fusion technique: sheets of coloured Murano glass are cut by hand, composed piece by piece and fused in the kiln, where the plate also takes its gentle curve. The pieces keep their edges after firing, so the surface stays alive with relief and catches the light from every side.
Original Murano glass, made entirely by hand in Italy by master glassmakers: no two plates are ever the same. Display it as a centrepiece, on a stand or on the wall. A five-hundred-year-old portrait, seen as if for the first time.

Size & care
Sizes are approximate: every piece is shaped by hand, so dimensions can vary by a few centimetres from one piece to the next.
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. If needed, clean gently with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive products, the dishwasher and sudden changes in temperature.
Shipping & returns
Timing depends on whether your piece is in stock. If it is, it leaves Italy as soon as it is packed. If it is not, we make it by hand for you: this takes from 2 to 6 weeks, the time the kilns and the handwork need. Either way, we will take care to get it to you as quickly as we can.
